Dave gave me a call and said he'd researched how to modify his stock exhaust to give it a more throaty sound. Armed with instructions and photos we decided to give it a try... it was supposed to take 40 minutes to complete. |

Tools needed:
|
|
First we start with a beautiful SV650....
Looking into the pipe tip you can see the baffle. What you want to do it to drill holes all the way around the inner baffle. Put the holes as close together as you can.
Here Dave is working all around the baffle. The bit kept drifting so we use a center punch to help the drill bit get started.
Dave is using the chisel now to tear the metal between the holes. Go all the way around ensuring a complete cut.
We cut off a piece of pipe to hammer the spot welds loose on the inner baffle.
The pipe itself fits around the baffle.
It took some swift hits (while I held the bike from moving) until the baffle was pushed in enough to break the inner spot welds
You have to work the baffle back and forth and semi rotate to get it out the back. This was the hardest part... but don't give up it will come!
Dave holding the trophy! We now have a complete muffler-ectomy! Next stop? Let's see how it sounds!
