I decided to go ahead and remove my emissions cannister to help combat the factory lean condition with the Ducati Hypermotard.  Friend and mechanic Eric at DP Motorsports showed me what to do!

Tools needed:

  • Needle nose pliers

While I was at DP Motorsports talking to Eric (Certified Hypermotard Mechanic) he said that the Evaporative Emissions Canister could assist in making the Hyper run lean and I should remove it... while I was tinkering on the bike today Shelby and I decided it was time to go!

If you follow the hose from the evap canister to the right side of the bike you can see where it connects to the barbed fitting on the intake. Use needle nose pliers to remove the clamp and pull the hose off...

On the left side.... same thing just remove the clamp and hose from the barbed fitting.

I carefully pulled the hoses off the bike

I then cut the hose from the fuel tank vent... I couldn't figure out how to release the stamped clamp....

The canister just slide out of the mount by release the clip at the top... then I removed the mount

I then removed the clip/clamp that holds the hoses... flipped it around backwards to hide the little tit and added one of the wiring bundles and re-snapped it into place. I also rerouted the fuel vent straight down from the tank and hid it behind the oil lines

Next I used rubber vacuum plugs (yellow) to seal off the exposed nipples...just incase these were ever needed again I left them in place....

All done!!! And all cleaned up!

All the pictures from the installation can be found here!
