Assembly time!!!

We started nice and slow and double checked our work!  We installed the cam shaft, then crankshaft bearings, and crankshaft main seal.

Next, we assembled the rings on the pistons, installed the pistons in the cylinders, and installed rod bearings.  Once that was completed we installed the timing set.  We went with a 4º advance at the crankshaft.  Recommended by Don and Crower based on the information provided on the cam card.

Front cover, water pump and other accessories next.  Head gaskets were sprayed with high temp paint and installed.  My oil pan had always leaked around the dip stick, so I removed the rivots and gasket from the dipstick area and mig welded them solid.  Once the pan was installed the block, heads and pan were painted dark Ford blue.

Installed the intake, and then the distributor, wires and prelubed the engine using a drill.  Static oil pressure was at 87 psi.  Woohoo!  She's just about ready to go in!!!  Next detailed and painted the engine compartment satin black.
